In 1999 a Barossa Legends Group Award (participants completing five and ten events) was introduced (prior to SARRC becoming the race organisers) to encourage continuing participation by half marathon runners and walkers. The participants received a suitably inscribed plaque, certificate and a bottle of wine.

In 2012 the first Marathon was introduced. From next year 2013, the SARRC Board decided that 10 Marathons or 20 Half Marathons will be the criteria for Future Barossa Legends.

For 2012 those who finished the Marathon can count this as one more Half Marathon if this means the participant can reach 10 Half Marathons and thus qualify under the old scheme.

In 2023 the SARRC Board renamed the exceptional runner perfomance with Vintage label for those who reached 10 and Magnum label for those who reach 20. This 10/20 score matches the same as the Adelaide Marathon Warrior and Legends labels.

The current (abbreviated) list shows that in 2023 Rob Robinson and Colin Brooks joined the Vintage achiever list.
